If you were the kid who always had big ideas for building amazing products using LEGO bricks, you're going to appreciate a new digital camera from Digital Blue and LEGO.

The two companies have announced plans to work together to create a series of consumer electronics gadgets that contain actual electronics on the inside and actual LEGO bricks on the outside. The camera, which will be available in the summer of 2009, looks like something you might have constructed as a child, but this model actually works. You cannot take it apart, however.

Details on the camera's specifications won't be available until the release date is closer. There's little doubt it will be less of a high-level digital camera and more of a toy aimed at pre-teen children (and adults who fondly remember playing with LEGOs as children).

Digital Blue and LEGO also will offer working walkie talkies, boom boxes, and alarm clocks. Exact pricing hasn't yet been set, but it's expected individual gadgets will cost between $20 and $60.
