Samsung Announces NX Series of Digital Cameras

Beginner and intermediate photographers looking to make a transition from a point-and-shoot digital camera to a digital SLR camera have a "hybrid" option, with the announcement of Samsung's NX series of digital cameras.

The NX cameras will carry a larger image sensor, much like a digital SLR model, to allow for higher-quality images than a small point-and-shoot camera. However, the NX will cost and weigh less than most digital SLRs, in part because it will use an electronic viewfinder (EVF).

Samsung announced the NX in conjunction with PMA 09, and the first NX models should appear in the second half of 2009.
