As you can see from this photo, the Optio WS80 from Pentax isn't your typical beginner-level digital camera, either in looks or in its preferred working conditions ... wet and wild.
The two colors found with the Optio WS80 -- white with purple accents and black with orange accents -- definitely are different than most digital cameras. And the WS80's underwater photography capabilities -- operating for up to two hours in up to five feet of water -- are rarely found in a camera in this price range (an MSRP of about $250). Pentax also strongly sealed the WS80 against dust and sand, making this camera great for use in harsh weather conditions.
The Optio WS80, which offers 10 megapixels of resolution and a 5X optical zoom lens, should be available for purchase in September.
