New Casios Can Focus on Anything

Autofocus (AF) has been available in digital cameras for a long time. However, it doesn't always work perfectly, and it sometimes can be tough to convince the autofocus mechanism to focus on exactly the object you want.

Casio hopes to have solved that problem with a couple of new cameras -- the Exilim Zoom EX-Z450 (pictured here) and the Exilim Zoom EX-Z90. Casio included a technology it calls Intelligent AF, which improves the autofocus capabilities of the cameras. Intelligent AF can handle face detection focus as well as non-human focus, by measuring the overall exposure area. Intelligent AF should improve photography of pets or scenery, for example.

The EX-Z450 will cost about $200 and will be available in the color of champagne. The EX-Z90 will cost about $150 and will be available in pink and black. Both cameras offer 12.1 megapixels of resolution and should be on store shelves in early October.

I value your comments, however it would be helpful to see photographs taken by these cameras. Also do you have any information about cameras that Isolate your subjects from the foreground or background.

Thank you
