Tony Benshoof: Olympian and Photographer

Follow me on:

With the 2010 Winter Olympics set to begin in February in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, I recently had a chance to ask some questions to a U.S. Winter Olympian who is an athlete in one of those sports that looks like a perfect mix of danger and thrills -- luge.

Tony Benshoof is expected to qualify for his third U.S. Winter Olympics team in luge, and he recently offered to give some advice to About Cameras readers.

What does an Olympic luge athlete have to do with cameras? Good question. Benshoof actually might be like a lot of you, as he started in digital photography as a hobby about five years ago. He has become a strong photographer, now shooting a variety of subjects, including the fast-moving sleds in luge.

Benshoof gives About Cameras readers advice on photography and on selecting camera hardware in the Q&A story, where you also can find links to and see some of his photography.

Although I don't expect anyone to follow in Benshoof's footsteps and become a world-class luge athlete after reading the Q&A, hopefully his advice on cameras will help you become a better photographer.
