Sony Offers Automatic Photography

Automatic digital cameras are commonplace, controlling everything about a photo from focus to flash to exposure to shutter speed.

Now Sony has even automated the process of actually taking the photo.

Sony's Party-shot is a camera dock that can circle 360 degrees and automatically detect faces, allowing it to shoot random photos without any person pressing a button. The Party-shot will work with two Sony cameras, the Cyber-shot DSC-WX1 (Compare Prices) and DSC-TX1. (Compare Prices)

The Party-shot (model IPT-DS1) runs from two AA batteries, and it should be able to shoot photos for about 11 hours before new batteries are needed. Just mount the Party-shot on a tripod or place it on a counter, and it will shoot natural expressions of the people around the room.

The Party-shot is currently available at a price of about $150. (Compare Prices) It almost sounds too good to be true, but if it works as advertised, it would be a very cool piece of technology.
