Kodak EasyShare M381 Review Posted

Kodak's EasyShare line of cameras lives up to its name, as I found recently when reviewing the Kodak EasyShare M381.

Kodak has created a very easy to use camera with the M381. Beginning photographers will appreciate the straightforward menu structure, good image quality, low price, and easy to use controls.

However, the EasyShare M381's problems with response times are significant.

Hopefully my review will help you weigh the good and bad aspects of the M381 and determine whether it's the camera for you. If you need a large resolution and easy to use features above all else, the M381 should work well. If, though, you don't want to risk missing spontaneous photos because of shot to shot delays, you may want to look elsewhere.

I love my easyshare, for a point and shoot camera. But you are right, the response times can be a problem.

On the pluse side, they are very durable. so good if you have kids.

Sorry to hear that – it seems like more and more cameras are built with inexpensive plastic and aren’t as sturdy and tough as cameras from 5 years ago.

One trick you can try when a camera will not power down is to remove the battery and memory card and leave them out of the camera for at least 15 minutes, although even longer (60 minutes) sometimes can work better. That process should reset the camera and potentially fix the problem. Also, visit the camera’s Web site and make sure there aren’t any updates to the camera’s software or firmware that you need to download.

Make sure you print out at least one photo with the date stamp on it if you have a Kodak M381. The date stamp is very large. I don’t like it. Kodak needs to reduce the font size a couple times. I could only date stamp the photos individually myself.
