After I posted my review of the D5000 DSLR camera from Nikon, a reader who owns the D5000 pointed out that Nikon has issued a potential recall on the camera.
Nikon says one of the electrical components that handles power control in the D5000 doesn't meet factory specifications and may cause the camera to fail to turn on, leaving it inoperable.
The problem doesn't affect every D5000 camera. For those who've experienced this problem, Nikon will pay for the shipping and repair of the camera at a Nikon repair facility. You can find more information on the recall through a page at the Nikon Web site, where you can check your camera's serial number against a list of affected D5000 cameras.
