The PowerShot A495 digital camera from Canon is aimed exclusively at beginning photographers looking for a value-priced photography option.
The A495's feature set doesn't offer much beyond what you'd expect in a camera with an MSRP of $129.99. You'll find 10 megapixels of resolution, a 2.5-inch LCD, an a 3.3X optical zoom lens. One thing that sets the A495 apart from other budget-priced cameras are the special-effect features Canon included with this model, including "low-light mode" and "poster effect mode."
The A495, which Canon announced at CES 2010, recently went on sale. (Compare Prices) Canon is offering the A495 in three colors: Blue, red, and silver. Each model includes a black and silver area along the left front side of the two-toned camera.
Canon has sent me a test model of the A495, and I'm looking forward to having a chance to try it and publish a review of the A495 this weekend.
