One of Fujifilm's latest digital camera models -- the FinePix Z700EXR -- looks like one of the most interesting new cameras in 2010.
The Z700EXR contains some great features, including a 3.5-inch touch-screen LCD, a 5X optical zoom lens, and 12 megapixels of resolution. The Z700EXR includes Fujifilm's innovative EXR image sensor, which works well in tough shooting conditions. The image sensor technology helped the Z700EXR win an award at PMA 2010.
Out of the 13 cameras Fujifilm announced early in 2010, the Z700EXR looks like the most interesting model.
Look for the Z700EXR in black, red, or silver. The camera body measures only 0.67 inches in thickness, and the horizontal lens cover includes an interesting wave design. Fujifilm uses LEDs to provide additional detail on the camera body. The Z700EXR is currently available with an MSRP of $279.95 (Compare Prices), and it should make the short list of those seeking good mix of shooting power and style in a point and shoot camera.

You…and other digicam experts…don’t seem to notice the disappearance of viewfinders. The trend to bigger and bigger LCD screens is eliminating more and more viewfinders. They are ALL gone on new shirt-pocket size digicams and more and more prosumer P&S models are coming out with only an LCD for viewing.
Over and above the frequent problems of using an LCD in bright sunlight, hasn’t a camera-held-at-arms-length been obviously less steady than when braced against a forehead when using a viewfinder…particularly in low light situations when shutter speeds drop?
How about an opionion here?

Rog,
I happen to agree with you – I’ve mentioned a few times here and there in articles or blog postings about how I dislike the lack of viewfinders on today’s cameras, for the exact reasons you mentioned.
However, the market says it wants smaller cameras, and one way to shrink the point and shoot camera is by removing the viewfinder.
One piece of good news is that the viewfinder is going nowhere in the DSLR market. In addition, the quality of LCD screens in point and shoot cameras continues to improve, which is helpful in bright sun.
Still, though, I’d prefer having the option of using a good old viewfinder or the LCD, and I wish more manufacturers were willing to include viewfinders on their cameras. I just don’t see this trend changing, though.
