Although most of the camera announcements in the first half of 2010 have centered on great features in consumer-level digital cameras, a few have focused on providing average features in a budget-priced, sub-$100 camera.
Hewlett-Packard, which rejoined the ranks of digital camera manufacturers this year after a three-year absence, has aimed at the budget category with its CW450 model, which carries an MSRP of $99.99.
As you might expect, the specifications for the CW450 are not going to overwhelm you. The CW450 offers 12.2 megapixels of resolution, a 2.7-inch LCD, and a 4X optical zoom lens in a camera body measuring 1.08 inches in thickness. One handy feature allows the CW450 to run from two AA batteries, which are easy to replace when you're traveling.
Despite a similar name and feature list, don't confuse the CW450 with HP's CW450t, which has a touch screen LCD.
The CW450's features probably rank a little below average when compared to most of 2010's new digital cameras. However, the CW450 is a nice beginner camera at a low price, which makes it worth considering, especially if you'd like a camera powered by common AA batteries. The CW450 is currently available in red and black.
