GE has developed eight new cameras for 2011, all of which have been announced as part of CES 2011 in Las Vegas. The cameras include:

  • A1456W. The inexpensive A1456W (MSRP $89.99) has a 5X optical zoom lens, a 2.7-inch LCD, and 14 megapixels (MP) of resolution.
  • C1433. You'll only find the most basic photography features in GE's C1433 ($79.99), including a 3X optical zoom lens that's paired with 14 megapixels of resolution.
  • DV1. GE's DV1 ($129.99) is a "tough" camcorder/camera that looks more like a cell phone, offering 1080p HD video and limited still image capabilities. It will work in up to 16 feet of water depth.
  • E1450W. The easy-to-use E1450W ($119.99) will offer 14MP, a 5X optical zoom, and a 2.7-inch LCD.
  • E1680W. The thin E1680W ($159.99) includes 16.1 megapixels of resolution and an 8X optical zoom lens.
  • J1470S. You'll find a handy built-in USB plug with the J1470S ($119.99), along with a 3.0-inch LCD.
  • PJ1. GE introduced the PJ1 (pictured here) in some parts of the world late last year, and it should now be available in the U.S, but the price is unknown. It features a 7X optical zoom and a built-in projector, much like the Nikon Coolpix S1100pj camera.
  • X500. You'll find an electronic viewfinder with the X500 ($149.99), as well as a 15X optical zoom lens.

Although GE is relatively new to the digital camera marketplace, the company (through its General Imaging division) has carved a nice niche for those seeking low-priced cameras. I'll have many more details on each of these cameras as their actual release dates come up in the next few weeks and months.
