It appears Sony may be the first major camera manufacturer close to unveiling a 3G-enabled digital camera.
With built-in 3G capabilities, the process of uploading photos and videos to Web-based social-networking sites, such as YouTube or Facebook, would be simplified. Digital cameras with built-in WiFi capabilities have been around for a couple of years, but built-in 3G would allow photographers to connect the Web from almost anywhere.
Sony has made no official statement on any plans to include 3G capabilities in future digital cameras or camcorders, but several high-tech Web sites have reported the company is "quietly" performing research on a 3G-enabled camera.
