Nikon has reached a bit of a milestone with its recently released Coolpix L610 camera, as it has reached two high-level specification measurements in a camera that runs from two AA batteries.
The L610 offers a 14X optical zoom lens and 16MP of resolution, the combination of which is very impressive in any point and shoot camera, let alone one that runs from AA batteries.
Some photographers appreciate the ability to make use of AA batteries while traveling, rather than having to try to recharge a Li-ion battery on the go. However, the AA batteries don't typically carry as much power as a rechargeable battery.
The L610 also offers full 1080p HD video capabilities, an HDMI port, and a 3.0-inch LCD. These are surprising features to find in a camera that measures only 1.4 inches in thickness. The L610 (MSRP, $249, Compare Prices) is available in red, black, or silver camera bodies.
