Guide Review - Canon PowerShot Pro1 Digital Camera

I am happy to finally see the Canon PowerShot Pro1 available. Canon has a long reputation of high quality, especially in their professional cameras, however this camera raises the bar. The greatest improvement (besides increasing the CCD resolution to 8 megapixels) is the L series lens. When the G5 was released, I wondered why they hadn’t put the L series lens on it. Sure it is more expensive, but it is one of the best lenses crafted.

The speed of the lens is amazing. F/2.4 captures fast action with extreme clarity and sharpness. The lens is also very quiet which makes this camera good for shooting wildlife and weddings. The camera’s compact size makes it an excellent professional camera, especially when you don’t want to be noticed.

The color reproduction is some of the best I have seen in a digital camera. There is very little noise, and the light aberration has been reduced dramatically.

There is a good list of accessories available for this camera including lenses, filters, batteries, and external flash units.
