Although practical gifts are OK, sometimes it's just nice to give a really cool gift, especially at the holidays. If your gift list contains a photographer, consider some of these cool camera gifts.
Easy to Use Camera With Style, $100-$250
If your gift recipient has a great sense of style -- or if he is in desperate need of a sense of style -- a stylish point and shoot camera, such as the GE Create camera by Jason Wu, is a great choice. The GE Create is available in 10 different body styles, allowing it to match almost anyone's tastes. In addition, the GE Create is extremely easy to use, meaning the recipient won't have to wade through pages and pages of confusing jargon in the camera user guide.
Dual-LCD Camera, $175-$300
If your camera gift budget includes enough money to purchase an actual camera, one of the coolest cameras around is Samsung's family of DualView cameras, which include LCD screens on the front and the back of the camera. The small LCD on the front is great for framing self-portraits or for keeping the attention of young children while shooting their photos.
Samsung now offers several DualView cameras, including the DualView TL225 (pictured here), DualView TL220, DualView TL210, and the DualView TL205.
DSLR Camera With Rotating LCD, $500-$1,000
DSLR cameras are cool. DSLR cameras with large LCD screens that can rotate and tilt away from the camera are especially cool. Just think of all of the odd-angle photos your gift recipient can shoot with the LCD rotated away from the camera. The Nikon D5000 (pictured here) is one of those types of DSLR cameras. With the high-quality photos that DSLR cameras can shoot, cameras like the D5000 double as cool and practical.
64GB SDXC Memory Card, $200-$250
If your gift recipient loves having the "latest" technology and gadgets, in the world of camera memory cards, it doesn't get any more "latest" than a 64 GB SDXC memory card, such as the Class 4 Ultra SDXC card pictured here from SanDisk. A 64 GB memory card can store up to eight hours of 1080p HD video.
Large Digital Picture Frame, $100-$300
Everyone loves large TVs, so it would be logical to assume they love large LCD digital photo frames, too. Fifteen-inch photo frames (as measured diagonally) are popular now.
The Frame Wizard 15-inch frame is large and bright, and it includes special effects that allow you to simulate motion in your photos. It costs close to $300, though. If you want a large frame and need to save some money, you can find some good deals on the Sunpak 15-inch frame.
Premium Photo Paper, $15-$30
If your gift recipient is the type who rarely spends money on himself and always tries to "make do" with what he has on hand, giving him some premium photo paper is a nice way to allow him to print photos that will look cooler than they look on standard printer paper, that he probably uses most of the time because it's handy. Matte paper has no shine and offers a little texture, while glossy paper is shiny and slick.
Consider purchasing paper that has already been cut to a common photo size, such as 4x6 or 5x7 inches.
