The Bottom Line

The Mach Speed Trio TV5 is an amazing multi-tasker, especially when you consider the inexpensive pricetag around $100. It can shoot, record and play video, shoot and display pictures, record and play MP3 audio, and it even has some games. Here is a review of the Mach Speed Trio TV5 Combo Camera, Video and Audio player and recorder. This isn't the product to buy if you're seeking out a slick digital camera, but it's ideal if you want to condense several large gadgets down into one lightweight unit.
Pros
  • Inexpensive
  • Does almost everything in one device
  • It's extremely lightweight
Cons
  • Camera is 5 megapixels, but no flash or zoom
  • You must navigate menu to shoot a picture
  • The accompanying manual is extremely brief and not very clear

  • Features built-in memory, and accepts both SD and MMC memory cards.
  • Music player supports MP3, WMA, WMV, ASF and WAV audio formats.

Guide Review - Mach Speed Trio TV5 Combo Camera

The Trio TV5 has an impressive array of offerings, and there are few products on the market offering anywhere near this many features in this price range. With the Trio TV5, you can:
  • Shoot pictures with its 5 megapixel camera
  • View photos on-screen
  • Play movies
  • Play audio in a range of files including MP3 and WAV
  • Record music by microphone or line-in recording
  • Record TV shows and movies directly through an AV line connection
  • Display videos and photos onto a TV through an AV line
  • Listen with or without ear buds, as it features built-in speakers for music and video
  • Play games
  • Consult a calendar
  • See a clock
That is an awful lot for one unit to do. Of course, the sacrifice is that the camera lacks advanced features, but that is to be expected. The camera will perform poorly in low light, as it has no flash. It also has no zoom. It would be difficult to design a unit that served as a great camera with the other options, however.

The main downside to this camera is the need to navigate in the menu before you shoot a picture. If it's a camera, it should default when you turn it on to shooting a picture. You have to select "Media," and then "Camera" and then press the button to take a photo.

The unit also has a bit of a learning curve. It isn't insanely complicated, but you should play with the features and get comfortable with it before you take it on the road for a trip. The manual is a tiny booklet that isn't wildly helpful.

The Trio TV5 will please any gadget nut just by the sheer variety of options. This combines a camcorder and video player, a camera, mp3 player, audio recorder and game unit in a tiny, inexpensive package.
