Q: How can I save some money on DSLR camera accessories?
With a DSLR camera, you'll probably need to spend money on interchangeable lenses and external flash units, among other items. However, if you already own some of these DSLR camera accessories from a 35mm film camera or another DSLR camera, you can save some money by re-using them with your digital SLR. You'll just have to make certain that the lens mount and other connectors on the DSLR can accept your brand and model of lenses and other accessories. Tripods also can be re-used from a 35mm film camera with a DSLR, if the models match up.
If you're migrating from a point and shoot model to a DSLR model, you sometimes can re-use memory cards, USB cables, and a few other accessories with your new DSLR. Again, if you plan to migrate to a DSLR camera from a point and shoot and you want to re-use some accessories, you'll have to make sure the items are compatible from model to model.
If you find that the accessories needed for a DSLR camera are too expensive, you can opt for a less expensive, beginner level DSLR model. Some DSLR models have one built-in lens that cannot be changed. Obviously such models don't offer the flexibility of more advanced DSLRs, but you can save some money with these models. Photographers looking for an intermediate camera between point and shoot and advanced models might want to go with one of these intermediate digital SLR cameras.
