Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 Review:

The small size is ideal. This camera gets used, because it's easy to take it anywhere. SLRs are fine, but compared to the convenience of a compact camera, the extra features aren't worth it. The camera was bundled with a long-lasting lithium ion battery and a handy charger. The expense of a spare battery was offset with the coupon. Who knew the optical viewfinder would zoom in and out with the telephoto? Most critics and tech writers say you don't need more than 6 or 7 megapixels. This camera fits that bill.

Compare Prices for the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30

Pros of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 Digital Camera:
  • Versatility. Size, telephoto and lens suit most shooting situations for the price under $250
  • Build quality/fit and finish is good for the price
  • Optical viewfinder included, handy for bright days
  • ISO allows for more available light work than I expected
  • Quality Carl Zeiss lenses included with this model, not all do
  • Menu shows each prescribed setting
  • Well organized buttons, sub menus with each setting.
  • Built-in memory provides more storage capacity than expected.
Cons of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 Digital Camera: Sony's proprietary models mean batteries and memory cards cost more. But there is at least one manufacturer making a compatible card for less money. Memory cards are expensive, but for less cost and increased security buy two 512 mb cards instead of one large gigabyte card. That way if one card is lost, damaged, you still have a back up card and all your files haven't been lost. Camera may not be bundled with suitable case. Buy one.
