Accessories

By Kyle Schurman, About.com

Definition: Accessories are add-on pieces of equipment for a digital camera that usually must be purchased separately from the camera itself.

Accessories can include interchangeable lenses, external flash units, memory cards, extra batteries, tripods, camera bags, and lens filters. Most beginner-level, point and shoot cameras offer far fewer accessories than advanced, digital SLR cameras. Some accessories are specific to a particular brand and model of digital camera.
