Art Filters

By Kyle Schurman, About.com

Definition: An art filter is a creative special effect that a photographer can apply to a digital photo directly from the camera. Olympus pioneered art filters in its E-30 digital SLR cameras.

Examples of art filters include:

  • Pop art, where colors in the photo are enhanced, similar to a piece of "pop art" from the 1960s.

  • Pin hole, where the photo is altered to make it appear as though it was shot through a pin hole, bringing greater focus to the subject centered in the photo.
