Power Adapter

By Kyle Schurman, About.com

Definition: A power adapter is a cord that connects a digital camera or the battery charger to an electrical outlet or to a USB connector.

Different digital camera models require specific power adapters. Some power adapters connect directly to the digital camera, allowing you to charge the battery inside the camera or to run the camera without a battery. Some power adapters only connect to a battery charger, rather than connecting to the camera. Some digital cameras connect to a power adapter through the USB connection.
