The Photography of Tomorrow, Today
While it's always fun to see the gadgets and products that will be useful in our personal lives, the great thing about industry shows is getting a glimpse of how technology is evolving and affecting our lives, either for big companies or behind-the-scenes inside the gadgets.
This year's PMAis no exception. There are photo technologies emerging that are fascinating and feel like a little taste of science fiction, more than science.
Cyclops has his eye on you
InSpeck will unveil its new Cyclops, a 3D digital camera that captures three-dimensional images of people. The innovative camera has sold about 200 models to commercial users, primarily those in the 3D crystal engraving business.
Face it!
FotoNation is showing off its unique Face Tracker, an in-camera technology that locks onto a subject's face. The Face Tracker can "adjust white balance before the image is captured, ensuring that faces are well exposed and optimally focused and that skin tones are reproduced with exceptional accuracy," according to a press release announcing the Face Tracker.
The slide-show, modernized
If you recall the old days of slide shows, you imagine a clunky projector. Panasonic has introduced a new projector which weighs a mere 2.9 pounds (making it the lightest and smallest projector on the market), and it accepts SD memory cards. The PT-P1SD will be available in April at a suggested list price of $1,199.
