Guide Review - Canon PowerShot G7 Digital Camera

For those photographers who are looking to take their pictures to the next level, but aren't quite ready to make the leap to a digital SLR, the Canon PowerShot G7 is the ideal compromise. It is heavier than a typical point-and-shoot at 11 ounces, but far lighter than a typical SLR. It has many advanced shooting features, yet it also has some automation like shooting modes, automatic flash and autofocus.

Canon PowerShot G7 Lens and Zoom

One of the best selling points of this camera is its high-quality lens. While you can certainly find digital point-and-shoot cameras with higher zoom power, this camera's zoom lens is of high quality and maintains a crisp image as it zooms. You also have the flexibility of adding a lens adapter so you can mount a telephoto lens.

Canon PowerShot G7 Image Capabilities

With 10 megapixels, the sky is almost the limit when it comes to enlargements. You can print poster-sized photos to frame and display with this camera. The face-detection autofocus makes portraits and family pictures a breeze. The large and crystal clear 2.5-inch LCD screen makes it easy to review photos and detect bad pictures as you shoot (including a Night View option).

Canon PowerShot G7 Shooting Modes

This camera has a wide range of unique and helpful shooting modes for those who aren't interested in going manual. They include:
  • Portrait
  • Landscape
  • Foliage
  • Snow
  • Beach
  • Fireworks
  • Aquarium
  • Underwater
  • Kids & Pets
  • Stitch Assist (for shooting and assembling panoramic photos)
