In this crazy paced electronic world where new products and developments will always already be on the way to retailers at the time of your purchase, buy the best you can to answer your potential needs. This camera goes well beyond my needs! It is extremely technical which translates to ... I will be very hard pressed to grasp and master its capabilities. I am the antithesis of technologically advanced and so be it!
I researched the product, accepted the findings to be true, and I have not been disappointed.
As for the lens, I checked that as well and opted for the very capable Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 zoom over the Canon zoom.
There will always be competition for your business. I made myself aware of the new world of digital photography and decided accordingly.
Camera "pros"
Manual option for total contro, with a multitude of automatic options plus the capability to film.
Camera "cons"
It is extremely technologically advanced ... unlike its owner. If you are at ease in that world, this is a great choice unless your capabilities (professional) exceed what this model offers.
