November 2010My Review
I have loved shooting Canon's PowerShot G-1 up to the G-11. I really loved the exterior flash bracket, where I used a Canon Speedlight with a diffuser. Wanting something I could carry in my pocket all the time, I was attracted to my brother's S90, but the S95 was out by the time I purchased it. I was really amazed at all of the abilities this small camera contains. My granddaughter is going to semester abroad in Europe, and the decision was a G-12 or S95. The family decided on the S95 since she can get quality photos with that more portable camera. When MacWorld gave it a recent writeup, we had to get in line to purchase it. So she will have instructions with her, we placed the S95 digital instruction booklet on her iPad. If she wants to stay in my will, she better be whipping Prague photos back to the old man!
Camera "pros"
Portability. Special "Ring Function" to set focal lengths and other modes. Has an "S" Shortcut button. Flash distance is good. I have used the "Low Light" mode a number of times in churches, museums. It even has HDR. When flash is too bright on people, I set "C" Custom mode on -1 flash.
Camera "cons"
105 focal length. Because it is small, I always put the camera strap around my wrist to prevent dropping it.
