This was the high end Coolpix with 3.3 megapixels at the time I bought it, and I continue to use it and love it. But truthfully it's my "glovebox" camera.
It has a wide zoom range. I bought the wide angle lens attachment used at $40. It is an excellent value on eBay for $100 bucks or less. Highly recommended as a second camera.
Camera "pros"
Solidly made, all metal body, super reliable. Has a zooming optical viewfinder. Articulated lens/flash from body of camera, so you can use it as at any viewing angle. Nikon stopped making this feature. You can use it like a twin lens reflex, for example. Pocketable or in a small fanny pack.
Camera "cons"
Only 3.3 megapixels, small LCD, long lag time between pushing button and taking picture.
