I've been a professional photographer for 50 years, and if I could have seen the future, I would not have believed that digital cameras like this were possible. A 26X zoom, HD video, more options than you can shake your credit card at, the P100 only needs to be able to make a good cup of coffee to make any photographer happy.
I work as as a CSI photographer for the Los Angeles public defender's office. Virtually all of my work is at night in some of the worst neighborhoods in Los Angeles. My P100 stays in a pouch on my belt at all times. It's small and lightweight, and it's ready for whatever comes my way. It comes with a panoramic mode and the seperate software to make excellent panoramics. The camera shows you the proper overlap between each picture.
There is a mode that allows you to soften portraits that will make family members happy when you shoot a few family snapshots. The macro can be zoomed, and this came in handy when I had to put the camera inside a bee hive for a picture. All in all, this camera has everything I need to keep working and having fun, as well.
