I bought into the Nikon mythology and purchased my first Nikon digital camera from the online store. I've used many cameras from 16mm to 4x5 view, still film, movie, video, and digital cameras for 40 years. I was not ready for what happened. The camera had a fine array of in-camera processes and image management tools.
Unfortunately, the first time it charged and powered up, I shot about 10 shots and set it aside to use the next day on a trip. The battery died in the meantime. I charged it for the required 5 hours several times and it would last about 6 hours (without use) before it died. It finally quit responding completely. I called Nikon USA and they asked me to go through a routine to power it up. The camera did not respond. I called Nikon USA again and got an RMA. Talk about slow! They apparently are not aware that their customers have other things to do, like work, sleep, eat lunch, or go to the toilet. I guess it took so long because the conversation had to go to a foreign country and be translated. They did not offer to replace the camera. They told me that a credit card refund would take 2 to 4 weeks, and they said if I wanted another one to buy it on line the same as I did before. BAD JOB, NIKON!!
Camera "pros"
Tilt and rotate LCD screen and ability to shoot color and black and white at the same time, and 1080p HD video
Camera "cons"
Nikon's attitude. Battery life (220 shots or a 20-minute video), but I didn't get a chance to verify the battery life.
