Oct. 16, 2009My Review
This is a camera I bought used, and I have shot close to 50,000 images with it. The camera is an extension of my eye, and I can shoot with it like I did with my old film cameras in the past ... only now I can do 300 photos in an hour, instead of six rolls of film. The move from point and shoot with this camera, even though it's only 6 million pixels, is incredible, and it can set you up to move to the best of the new models. You even can move up to the 40. 80 or 90, and even the 70 Nikon DSLR. Nikon is one the top camera makers, and even its point and shoot cameras are incredible, but if you want fine lenses and sharp photos, the D50 is the place to start and end in good photography.
Camera "pros"
You can shoot manual and meter with the camera first. It shoots great child shots with a mode for that. The camera allows you to take photos in the same modes on your point and shoot, so it not a far fetch to get used to.
Camera "cons"
It has a small screen, it doesn't do video, and it doesn't do black and white. It's not for large prints but for up to 8x10, it's on the ball, and it doesn't have live view.
