My Review

I love this camera. My father was a great photographer, but I didn't get interested until after he passed. As far as I am concerned, it takes great pictures from "automatic" to manual settings -- it won two awards. Of course, it is less expensive as the Canons and Nikons, but, for an amateur starting out, I vouch for it. Later, if it is your thing, you can go higher ... and, of course, the drawbacks are all cameras get updated most every year, anyway. After about a year or so, I became physically disabled, unable to get really good shots (lying down) but hopefully that will change. Now I have enough pictures of my cat to win a contest!(Once I get a new computer that will take PS and flash card readers.) The thing I like the very best is how it lets you know you are in focus with the right settings.

Camera "pros"

It will take other brand lenses. Just so many techniques can be learned with the features.

Camera "cons"

Of course, it's not nearly as light weight as the little point and shoots, and it's sort of clunky hanging around your neck in crowds, etc. ... But do you want a point and shoot picture? Oh, I don't see why Olympus doesn't use the little memory cards most every manufacturer uses -- it would be a lot more convenient.
