Overall, I have found this to be an excellent camera that delivers on everything that Panasonic promised. I've taken just shy of 1,000 pictures and have been overwhelmingly pleased with the results. The only thing I can't comment on is the GPS function, because I don't use it at all. I purchased the ZS10 over the ZS8 mainly for the faster shooting speeds and the ability to snip (low res) pictures out of video during movie recording and playback (super fun for FB). Also, the Panasonic IS truly has to be seen to be believed. I took concert pictures and video at "Ultra" this year, while being jostled around in huge crowds, and was blown away by how well the IS worked! I also have a Sony DSLR for important photos/events/low-light/etc., and I use the ZS10 as my carry everywhere camera. For its intended purpose as a high quality snapper, and for the target audience, this camera is currently the best in class, IMHO. If you accept its limitations and don't expect it to perform like a DSLR, you won't be disappointed!
Camera "pros"
- 16X optical zoom in a small and easily carried package, plus intelligent zoom up to 21X with no loss in quality (that I saw).
- Full zooming power available during movie recording
- Rock solid image stabilization
- Photo capture during movie recording and playback
- Five fps with autofocus
Camera "cons"
OK, if I must ... Not good (noisy) in low-light without flash ... then again, what can we expect from a camera with a tiny sensor and a slow lens? Expecting a sensor/lens combination like this to rock low-light pictures is like buying a little car to tow the new boat you just bought.
