2005My Review
I have owned Pentax cameras for many years, starting with the Honeywell Spotmatic through the Asahi Spotmatic and the ME Super in the film media. I currently own a digital Pentax *ist DS. When it came out, it was in the 6.1 megapixel category, which is in the low range compared with the 14 to 18 megapixel range with the K20 and newer versions of Pentax cameras. However, I have been in this business for many years, using the Spotmatic film camera while an Air Force photographer, and, after my time was up with the Air Force, as a photographic lab technician for an advertising agency, when they used stuff called film. Digital is now the media, and I love it. This camera is light and the lens quality is good. However, I use lenses from my other film cameras. I am disappointed the Pentaxes do not get the fame that the Canons and Nikons do, and that is a shame.
Mainstream stores just do not carry the Pentax brand. Amazon.com does. No, it is not cheaper in price than the others, and the quality is unsurpassed. Pentax holds its own. Try it you might like it. I do. Some of my photos are on the link below.

Camera "pros"
Easy format, and the menu is easy to read. Camera is light and small in stature, so it is easy to carry and bring up to eye level. You can get lenses from Pentax or Sigma or Tamron. I stick with the Pentax brand because I am more familiar with them.
Camera "cons"
None from me.
