My Review

I am new to DSLR photography, coming from many years of frustration with point and shoot cameras. I tried just about everything, but I never really found what I wanted, which was the flexible focal range of a P&S (18-200+ mm) with the image quality of a DSLR. Also on my list was HD video with fast autofocus, and a solid 5 fps shooting capability. I tried the Sony NEX-3, but found the menu system to be cumbersome and the limited lens selection disappointing.

I have to say that the SLT-A33 does not disappoint! With the Sony 18-250mm lens, it does everything I wanted and more!

Camera "pros"

Excellent image quality, spot-on autofocus, low-light, and blazing fast 7 fps shooting. Excellent "auto" modes that seem to always find the best settings, so I don't have to. Paired with the 18-250mm Sony lens, this camera seems to be capable of handling almost any situations I might find myself in.

Camera "cons"

I guess price is the only real con ... but anything Sony offers seems to come with a premium price tag. That said, I've found you do get what you pay for with cameras and, after using this one, I have no regrets spending $150 over my budget.

Thanks for sharing your comments; I'm glad the A33 is working so well for you! I recently had a chance to review the Sony A55, and I thought it was a very nice DSLR camera, too.
