Why, How, and When I Switched From Film to Digital

The change came back on January 11, 2005, when I just purchased my Konica Minolta 7D DSLR Digital 6.3 MP Camera. I have been shooting film since 1972 doing Fire Photography for my department. When I purchased my first Kodak digital back on December 4, 1998, I did both film and digital gradually, doing better with the digital than film. Since I have had my 7D I have yet to shoot a roll of film. I still have all eight of my 35mm camera's and several AF and manual lenses. I have shot over 30,000 digitals with my 7D and I am ready for a second DSLR that will work with all my Minolta lenses. Been looking at the new Sony 330L or 500 model. Probably, I will not go back to film. For as many pictures I now take it would cost way to much to get pictures printed and a lot of stores no longer do prints. My 7D is like heaven. I can take 2,000 pictures on a good weekend and don't have to pay 40 cents a print to have processed. I only print what I want. Everything is on DVD and viewed from computer where the photos will never yellow.

Lessons Learned

  • 1, Paid to much 12 years ago for an really out of date camera now.
  • 2, Never like waiting 15 to 20 seconds for picture to download.
  • 3, Take too many pictures now for this to work, would need 50 batteries for the job instead of one every 600 photos.
  • 4. Don't forget the extra batteries for this camera, you never know when they may come in handy!!
  • 5. Keep your lenses clean, with soft lens cleaning cloth.
