What Type of Camera and/or Lenses Did You Use?

Nikon Coolpix L22

What Was the Weather Like? What Was the Lighting Like?

The day I took this photo it was sunny and quite warm. I ended up taking lots of photos, but this one is different from all the others I took because it takes a lot of time to capture the dragonfly at the right moment. I didn't need to use a flash, because the lighting in the picture just seemed right. One thing I did notice is that on this picture, in the background, it was a little darker than I actually wanted it.

Advice

  • I wish that I had taken this picture at a different angle so that I could see the wings a little bit better. If you're going to take a picture of an insect, seriously take your time and make sure it's the kind of angle you want.

If You Remember, What Were the Camera's Settings?

I had it on the macro setting, so I could take it up close and have it so it wasn't blurry.

Why Is This One of Your Favorite Photos?

I had never taken a picture of a dragonfly so close to it. I was actually surprised it didn't fly away when I came up close to it.

What Did You Learn About Photography With This Photo?

That it takes time to get it just perfect, and what angle to take it at and what settings are needed.
