What Type of Camera and/or Lenses Did You Use?
I used a Nikon D90 and a kit lens -- a 18-105mm Nikon lens. I also used a tripod to keep the camera steady.
What Was the Weather Like? What Was the Lighting Like?
The weather was fairly overcast with minimal lighting. Obviously, the shot was taken outside. In order to deal with the fairly low lighting conditions, I used a long shutter speed and low aperture in order to ensure the correct exposure of the photo.
This was a place that I just came across while I was exploring the Dandenong Ranges National Park in Australia. This path goes on for about a kilometer and leads up to Ferny Creek from the carpark below.
Advice
- I don't think I should've done anything differently. However, this would look a lot better if there was some fog or a sunrise in the background.
If You Remember, What Were the Camera's Settings?
I just had it on Program mode. It was on a fairly long shutter speed in order to accommodate for the low light.
What Type of Planning Was Needed to Set Up This Photo?
None. It was a spur of the moment photo. I found this place by just exploring the area. I had never been here before.
Why Is This One of Your Favorite Photos?
I just really like the way the trees seem to extend forever.
What Did You Learn About Photography With This Photo?
Any day is a good day to take photos, no matter if it is grey and overcast.
