What Was the Weather Like? What Was the Lighting Like?
It was a beautiful sunny, warm Oregon summer day.
The lighting was full sun.
Mt. Jefferson appeared huge as a backdrop for the shot of the lake.
The sun was at my back which made shooting this shot perfect.
I also used a UV filter on my lens.
I don't believe there are too many states that can compare with Oregon's beauty in the summer.
Winters are quite wet! But the summers make it worth it.
Advice
- Plan your trip around good weather days!
- Wait for optimum light conditions.
- Try different angles on subject.
- Shoot plenty of shots! Digital doesn't waste any film!
If You Remember, What Were the Camera's Settings?
1/100, f5.6, ISO 100, UV filter
What Type of Planning Was Needed to Set Up This Photo?
Olallie Lake is high in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness area in Oregon. A four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended to get to the lake. Plan on bringing supplies (food, water, etc.), as the area is quite remote.
I had to wait for "just right" light.
