What Was the Weather Like? What Was the Lighting Like?
When I took this picture, it was around 9 a.m. The night before, there was a huge snowstorm, and it was the first snow of the winter. Everything was covered in snow, and it was still coming down from the heavy, looming sky. I took this picture out the window of our car as we were driving. I don't believe the flash was on. The lighting was gloomy, but the snow was bright, so the lighting took care of itself.
Advice
- Photography is not like every other art, because you're not creating something, you're capturing it. Photography is an organized chase after a moment, a feeling, an emotion, an experience. If I can capture a picture that acts as a thread leading to an emotion that can only be felt through seeing that picture, I've accomplished photography. I want people to experience a new emotion that strikes a chord of familiarity with which to bond in my pictures. I want them to have that image stuck in their mind all day long.

I believe, if I remember correctly, my camera was set on the landscape setting.

What Did You Learn About Photography With This Photo?
I learned that the eye is not always drawn to the most intricate thing in the photo, and that, sometimes, it's the intricate things in the photo that define the subject. In this case, the bushes & twigs are intricate but are not the subject. They define the subject: The road.
