What Type of Camera and/or Lenses Did You Use?

Nikon D-60 camera, 55mm telephoto lens with F4.5 capability

What Was the Weather Like? What Was the Lighting Like?

I was outdoors when I took the picture, with natural lighting. It was a very sunny, very beautiful day, without a cloud in the sky. No flash was necessary, of course. The lighting conditions were great for photography.

Advice

  • If I took this again, I would use a slightly faster shutter speed to capture the three honey-bees in the picture more clearly. When I took the picture, I did not notice they were there.

If You Remember, What Were the Camera's Settings?

I believe I had the camera on automatic. I do not know any other settings.

What Type of Planning Was Needed to Set Up This Photo?

Absolutely none. I just saw the opportunity for a good picture and took it.

Why Is This One of Your Favorite Photos?

I have always loved the clear contrast of the colors in this photo -- yellow, green, sky blue, etc. I love the clarity of the flower itself against the unfocused clouds behind it. Also, if you look closely, you can see three bees pollenating the flower. I think it exemplifies the beauty of nature.

What Did You Learn About Photography With This Photo?

I learned that flowers are one of my favorite subjects of photography, and that one does not need a professional lens or equipment to take good pictures.
