What Type of Camera and/or Lenses Did You Use?

Canon PowerShot A570 IS

What Was the Weather Like? What Was the Lighting Like?

Clear with no winds. Warm breeze from the ocean. Photo was taken in late evening.

No flashes were used for capturing this photo. The lighting conditions were original evening light. I tried different settings like landscape, night, ocean, and foliage but nothing compared to the original evening light. Result is shown here in this beautiful evening sunset. Magnificent!

Advice

  • I would not have done anything different to capture this photo again. I think it's quite artistic myself.
  • Duplicating anything different of this photo would not do justice to the original.

If You Remember, What Were the Camera's Settings?

Auto mode

What Type of Planning Was Needed to Set Up This Photo?

No planning was needed to capture this photo. I started out on my evening stroll in the community in which I live (Tickle Cove, Newfoundland), and, of course, I met with this awesome sunset. We get many of these where I live and we enjoy them very much -- so peaceful and quiet.

Why Is This One of Your Favorite Photos?

I've seen many photos of other sunsets from far away places, and I am very proud to be able to capture a sunset similar or just as beautiful as some I've seen taken in far away countries. I am very proud to say I have a little piece of Heaven in my back yard. Love my photos!

What Did You Learn About Photography With This Photo?

I never do plan my photos, but when I come across a picture that appeals to me, I cannot resist my aim for the most perfect picture. I try to present the most original photos possible. I do not like addding or taking away from the original picture such as with lighting. Originality is my theme.
