CalTech's patent-infringement lawsuit against Sony over patents related to digital camera technologies was recently settled out of court.

CalTech, which also is suing Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, and Samsung, is seeking royalties on 11 patents. CalTech is claiming that it developed some digital camera related technologies, such as pixel sensors, for NASA that now appear in digital cameras from the six digital camera manufacturers named in the lawsuit.

Terms of the resolution between Sony and CalTech were not announced.

I’m interested in the details. If funding for the research came from the USA Government then the patent belongs to the people of the United States. Perhpas royalty could help with the deficit
