New Sony Cameras Built For Low Light

Sony is offering a pair of new beginner digital cameras -- the Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 and the Cyber-shot DSC-WX1 -- that are designed to perform especially well in low light conditions.
The new Cyber-shot cameras are the first that make use of a new image sensor. The sensor, which Sony calls Exmor R, uses back illumination technology along with CMOS technology to improve its low-light performance. The CMOS sensor can operate at high speeds, for example, allowing for increased shutter speed.
The DSC-TX1 will cost about $380, and it will be available in September in silver, pink, blue, and gray. The DSC-WX1 will cost about $350, and it will be available in October in black.
Sony estimates the two new cameras will have about twice the sensitivity of an average beginner-level digital camera. For those who shoot a lot of indoor photos in poor lighting, these cameras should improve your results.
