The strong zoom lens is a fixture of almost every fixed lens camera, and the Olympus SP 600UZ delivers on that premise with its 15X optical zoom lens.
The SP 600UZ offers a nice mix of wide angle and telephoto options with its 15X optical zoom lens, with a 28mm-420mm equivalent measurement. In addition, the SP 600UZ can shoot at 12 megapixels of resolution, along with 720p HD video, and it offers a 2.7-inch LCD (although I'd like to see a larger screen).
The SP 600UZ, which can run from 4 AA batteries, is currently available for sale with an MSRP of $249.99. (Compare Prices) It's a big camera, measuring 3.0 inches in thickness, but its rounded handgrip should make the SP 600UZ comfortable to use.
