Sony's recently released DSLR camera, the a37, has a large number of high-end features that should allow it to compete well with DSLRs from other more well-known manufacturers.
The a37 offers 16.1 megapixels of resolution in a powerful CMOS image sensor. It's a larger sensor (23.4 x 15.6 mm), and it's great for achieving high-end photos, especially in low light. To help with low-light photos, you can shoot at an ISO up to 16000.
You'll also find an electronic viewfinder and a 2.7-inch LCD that swivels away from the camera, both of which are great features. It offers a built-in pop-up flash unit, and it can make use of an A-mount Sony interchangeable lenses.
Sony recently dropped the MSRP on the a37 to $549.99 (Compare Prices) with a starter lens, so it's a pretty good value, too.
