Remember when you were a child and you had that favorite toy you wanted to keep all to yourself? I do. Eventually, we all learn that sharing is a good thing (most of the time). Well, now Kodak wants you to learn to share in a whole new way that is breaking ground in the digital camera industry.
Their new EasyShare-One camera, set for mucn-anticipated release in June, is a 4-megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, 256 MB memory and the ability to capture "T.V.-quality" video. It will feature a 3-inch swivel LCD screen. Even better, the screen is also touch sensitive! Thats right, no more button-pushing: you can touch the screen with your fingers or use the attached stylist.
The most innovative feature, however, is what really puts the share in EasyShare. Kodak is also making the EasyShare-One Camera Wi-Fi!
Here's how it's going to work. Kodak wants you to be able to share the pictures instantly. Using the internet, the camera can wirelessly send your pictures to Ofoto.com, now known as the Kodak EasyShare Gallery service, allowing friends and family around the world to see your brand new pictures. Kodak also partnered up with T-Mobile wireless on the project to reach even more people.
This little gem is going to bring families closer together, whether theyre separated by a town a state or an ocean.
So what is the expected price of this happiness? The camera is expected to retail for $599. The Wi-Fi cards that will fit into the camera and the Kodak Printer Dock Plus (allowing you to print the pictures without hooking the camera up) will be selling for $100.
Kodak is definitely getting the word out that sharing is good. Now if I can just get the message through to my two year-old.
