I have progressively upgraded from film to digital, and I am very happy with my D90. The sensor at 12.5MP is more than adequate, with good high ISO performance. It is a great buy right now after the introduction of the D7000.
Camera "pros"
Easy to use and all controls are handy if a little small. I have been getting great results in RAW, JPEG, and TIFF formats. Build quality is first rate.
Camera "cons"
For me the body is a little small, so I would recommend a battery grip to improve handling if you have large hands. The only issue I have with the camera is my wired shutter release port does not work; it's not a big deal, as I use a wireless one instead, but still ...
