"The Setting Sun"

What Type of Camera and/or Lenses Did You Use?

I used a Canon SX30IS for this shot.

What Was the Weather Like? What Was the Lighting Like?

It was evening when I took this shot.

The weather was clear, otherwise it would have been difficult to get this type of shot. As it was twilight time, the light was a little low. I did not use high ISO on my camera to keep the noise away. But the I was lucky to have shot this picture, which was quite free from noise.

Advice

  • The only advice for taking such pictures is to take as many pictures as possible, so that you have many pictures to select the best one from. I took about eight such pictures and selected this one, finally.
  • To view the sunspots without any filter, take photos of sun either just after sunrise or just before sunset and use the highest aperture setting on your camera (for lowest diameter of aperture).
  • When taking pictures of sunset or sunrise ,make sure that there are some other objects also in your picture, like trees, birds, clouds, a landscape, etc., to enhance the visual appeal of the picture.

If You Remember, What Were the Camera's Settings?

F-stop: f/8

ISO: 80

exposure: 1/1600 sec.

Focal length: 150 mm

Exposure bias: 0 step

What Type of Planning Was Needed to Set Up This Photo?

No specific planning is required. You can take this kind of picture during morning or just before sunset.

Why Is This One of Your Favorite Photos?

This is the first photo of sun taken by me with sunspots on it.

I was very excited to see the sunspots for the first time with my eyes.
